Current MSME Classification
From 1 April 2025, an enterprise is classified based on the composite criteria of investment and turnover ceilings [1]. Turnover relating to exports is excluded.

Who Can Apply?
Any person intending to establish a Micro, Small or Medium Enterprise may file for Udyam Registration online through the official Udyam Registration portal, subject to the applicable MSME framework.
Udyam Registration covers eligible manufacturing and service activities, and multiple activities may be specified or added under a single Udyam Registration.
Trading Activities
Specified retail and wholesale trade activities can also be registered under Udyam through the applicable NIC codes. However, the benefits available to retail and wholesale trade MSMEs are restricted to Priority Sector Lending as prescribed.
Information Required
The Udyam Registration process is paperless and based on self-declaration. Documents, certificates or proof are not required to be uploaded.
The applicable Aadhaar holder varies: proprietor for proprietorship, managing partner for partnership, Karta for HUF. For a company/LLP/society/trust, the authorised signatory provides their Aadhaar along with the entity's PAN and GSTIN.
